OVW TV #974: "A #1 Contender is CHOSEN"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 18, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Michael Hayes learns his opponent for Run for the Ropes, the semifinals of the Anarchy Title Tournament, a Captain's Match between Amon and Randall Floyd, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Due to a SEVERE computer glitch, tonight's report was lost as far as the details of each match. What you will see instead is a quick recap of tonight's action.

"The Winter Swoldier" Adam Slade defeats Dimes (w/"The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson) by pinfall after a spear, despite outside interference from the Bros.

Shiloh Jonze & Kevin Giza defeat Andrew Thomas & BGB. Shiloh gets the pin on BGB with his feet on the ropes. Shiloh used some underhanded tactics that Giza did not see, including choking his opponent and the feet on the ropes.

Flex Murphy (w/"Shotgun" Tony Gunn) defeats Rump Thump. Rump was in control and went up top. While the ref was checking on Flex, Gunn shoves Rump off the top rope. Flex locks in a sharpshooter and Rump is forced to tap.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html.

Dr. Ted McNaler & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Brittany is the ring announcer.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c) defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. A quick-paced back and forth match with a lot of aerial maneuvers. Sam is in control when Ted McNaler jumps up on the apron and distracts him with a duck call.
Adam Revolver sneaks out, grabs the TV Title, and tries to hit Sam. Sam catches him and takes him down and out of the ring. LJ picks up the title while the ref is still trying to get McNaler off the apron, and clocks Sam with it to get the 3.

OVW ANARCHY TITLE SEMIFINAL: "Shotgun" Tony Gunn (w/Flex Murphy) defeats Big Zo. Zo has the upperhand despite Gunn's attempts to take him down and a chair shot from Flex. Zo hits Gunn with a fallaway slam and Gunn is in position for a Zo bomb. Flex gets in the ring with a can of spray and a towel. Zo catches him with a big boot, slams him, and gives him a Zo bomb. Gunn recovers, sprays the towel and as Zo lifts him up on his shoulders, Gunn puts the towel over Zo's face and Zo passes out. Gunn gets the 3.

Michael Hayes comes to the ring. He doesn't care if Al Snow, Dean Hill, Danny Davis, or Josh Ashcraft is the one paying the bills around here, he is running this company. He wants to know what "turd" he is facing at Run for the Ropes. "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff returns. Hayes is surprised he is a wrestler now and not off playing video poker somewhere. He wants to know what makes him qualified to face him for the title. Huff hits him with the Athlete's Foot and grabs the mic. He says now he is qualified.

"The Varsity Babes": Cali & Meg defeat Valerie Vermin & OVW Women's Champion Jaylee. Meg gets a hot tag from Cali and hits a spear. Before she can get the 3, Maria James runs in and breaks up the count.
Torey Payne comes out to even the odds by chasing Jaylee, Maria, & Valerie off with a skateboard.

OVW ANARCHY TITLE SEMIFINALDapper Dan defeats Apollo. Dan hits Apollo with a kendo stick several times and then goes outside. He brings a door and several chairs into the ring from underneath it. Apollo catches him with a chair shot and a cookie sheet to the head. He sets up the door on 4 chairs and swings wildly at Dan. Dan ducks and picks him up for the Death Valley Driver. He hits it on a garbage can for the 3.
Following the match, Tony Gunn & Flex Murphy attack Dan. Flex hits him with the kendo, then they pick him up and place him on the top rope.
They deliver a double powerbomb on Dan through the door.

CAPTAIN'S MATCH: "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats Amon (w/"The Void": Chace Destiny, Nigel, & Houdini). Amon keeps popping up and won't stay down. He hits Floyd with a pedigree, but Floyd kicks out at 2! Nigel distracts the ref on the apron, and Amon grabs his chain. The ref turns around to see Amon hit Floyd with it and calls for the bell.
After the match, Amon summons the Void. They grab Floyd, but he fights all 3 men off, then grabs the chain and clocks Amon, knocking him out of the ring.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Chace Destiny defeats Lukas Gibson. Chace grabs the victory after nailing Lukas with the Butterfly Effect for the 3.

Billy O & William Lutz defeat "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson (w/Dimes). The Bros are going for the Snapshot on Lutz, but Billy hits Colton and tosses him to the outside. Lutz rolls Dustin up to get the 3.
After the match, Dimes & the Bros attack Lutz & Billy, hitting Billy with the Snapshot.

As always, thanks for reading!
