OVW TV #905: "Reset for Next Level"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, December 21, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, the Nightmare Scramble continues, Justin Smooth is interviewed about his 2016 and things to come, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Callie Bae defeats Scarlet after Damion comes to ringside and inadvertently distracts Scarlet, leading to a rollup from Callie for the 3.

"The King of Hairstyle" Robbie Walker defeats Carlos Gabriel. Carlos is in control, hitting a running forearm in the corner and then an overhead suplex into a vertical suplex for 2. Robbie hangs Carlos up on the ropes and hits the Comb Over for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Josh Ashcraft are on commentary and Gilbert is the ring announcer.

NIGHTMARE SCRAMBLE FIRST ROUND: "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles & Little Damion defeat Trevor Steele & the Mexicutioner. Steele starts out by throwing Damion around like a rag doll and refusing to tag in Mex. Mex finally gets upset and confronts Steele, but gets a torture rack slam. Damion is able to get to his corner and tag in Stu. Stu hits a shoulder tackle, a running "be healed", and a splash in the corner. He "heals" Steele some more, before eating a big boot. Stu comes back, though, and hits another "healing" to Steele to take him off his feet after tagging Damion. He throws Damion off the top rope, and Damion frog splashes Steele for the 3.

Justin Smooth is interviewed by Gilbert Corsey about his great year, and how he is now in line for a Heavyweight Title shot at the next Saturday Night Special.
They are interrupted by Josh Ashcraft. Josh says Smooth didn't earn the tag title, and definitely doesn't deserve a Heavyweight Title shot. He demands he put his title shot on the line against his guy...Ca$h Flo. Ca$h comes out and gets in the ring, and Smooth says he kicked his head off last week, he'll do it again now...
OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE #1 CONTENDER SPOT: Justin Smooth defeats Ca$h Flo. A very good back and forth match. Ca$h has control, but misses a splash off the top rope. Smooth hits the running big boot, but only for 2! He goes for Street Justice as Josh Ashcraft runs up on the apron to distract him. Ca$h grabs Smooth from behind, but Smooth escapes and gets Ca$h back up for Street Justice and hits it for the 3.

Dean Hill demands that Team Next Level come to the ring now! Out comes Devin Driscoll, Mitch Huff, & Tony Gunn. Dean wants to know who they think they are. Driscoll says he is a former OVW Champion and has been in WWE and NXT. He says he was genius enough to align himself with the 2 best athletes in OVW. He asks Dean who he thinks he is. Dean says he owns this place, and he is throwing out the match from last week. The match will happen again tonight in the main event, but this time he told Diamond he could choose his partner. Diamond comes out with Adam Slade.
He says that Slade may have been running around with a sword for the last few months, but while they have been chasing their dreams for the last few years, Slade has been defending our country, as he is U.S. military. He says he is also his half-brother, and knows he can trust family. Dean tells Gunn that he will be banned from ringside.

NIGHTMARE SCRAMBLE FIRST ROUND: Big Zo & Dapper Dan Van Zandt defeat "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix. Matrix's luck of the draw partner was supposed to be Jade Dawson, but Jade doesn't show up. Matrix is on fire and puts up a valiant effort, but after Dan shoves Zo out of the way of a kick off the ropes from Matrix, Matrix gets caught with a powerbomb from Zo for the 3.
After the match, Jade shows up. He gets in the ring and grabs the TV Title, spits on it, and lays it back on top of a downed Matrix.

NIGHTMARE SCRAMBLE FIRST ROUND: "Team Next Level": "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff & "The Complete Athlete" Devin Driscoll defeat "Wrestling's Rockstar" Diamond & Adam Slade. The match turns into a brawl between all 4 men on the outside, where Huff & Slade are the legal men. Driscoll throws Diamond into the steps and then sneaks up behind Slade as he brawls with Huff. Slade turns into a cutter on the concrete floor! Huff rolls in before the 10 count to get the win via countout. Slade has to be stretchered out.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Jade Dawson defeats Kevin Giza following a DDT for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!
