OVW TV #890: "Rocco & Roll"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, September 7, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Adam Revolver & the Mexicutioner defend their newly won Southern Tag Team Champioships against the Legacy of Brutality, Bud Dwight defends the Television Title against Trevor Steele, Rebel puts her #1 contendership on the line against Jessie Belle, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats Adam Slade. Pretty much a squash for Gunn. He hits Slade with Three Amigos, a kick to the face, and makes Slade tap to the YTO.

"The Bad Boys Club": "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews & "Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Jessie Belle) defeats Colton Cage & Billy O. Billy has the upperhand on Shane, then both men tag and Cage has the upperhand on Royal until Jessie trips Cage. Shane jumps off the top rope and hits a double foot stomp across Cage's back. Royal hits Cage with an inverted Russian leg sweep. Shane is back in, throws Cage off the ropes, and Cage connects with a DDT. Cage tags to Billy. He hits slams and dropkicks to both Shane & Royal. He hits Royal with a high knee in the corner and goes up top. Jessie distracts him and the ref, and it gives Royal time to recover and knock Billy O down straddling across the top turnbuckle. He grabs him for a samoan drop, and it is followed up by a frog splash from Shane for the 3.

Maria James comes out and says she is simply amazing. She says that it doesn't matter who she faces next Tuesday at the Rusty Bucket, Jessie Belle, or TNA's Rebel, because she will walk out still the OVW Women's Champion.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Ron Hed are on commentary, and Ron is the ring announcer.

Robbie Walker comes out with Torey Payne and the "OVW Rule Book". He says that there is another rule violation. He should not be competing against someone outside his weight class.
Big Jon defeats "The King of Hairstyle" Robbie Walker (w/Torey Payne). Walker has the ref check Jon for weapons, and hits Jon from behind with the book. It doesn't faze Jon. He slams Walker and has him in a vertical suplex, but as Torey distracts the ref, Walker rakes the eyes. He goes out and grabs a chair. He goes to hit Jon, but Jon moves, and the chair lands on the top rope. Jon kicks the top rope and Walker hits himself in the head with the chair. Jon goes to splash him in the corner, but Walker moves. He then goes up and connects with a missile dropkick. He chokes Jon in the corner as Torey sets up another chair in the opposite corner behind the ref's back. Walker goes to throw Jon into it, but Jon reverses and Walker hits it head first. Jon then connects with a monster chokeslam that might have given Walker a nosebleed from how high he was for the 3.

"The Iron Demon" Shane Mercer defeats Jade Dawson. A good quick-paced start. Jade has the momentum after hitting a kick to the head, and then a kick off the ropes, but he lands on his bad knee. He tries going up top, but Mercer recovers and catches him on the ropes. He hits his reverse backflip slam off the second rope for the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "Party Starter" Bud Dwight (c) vs. Trevor Steele ends in a no-contest. A very quick opening between the 2 big men. Steele catches Bud with a kick to the face and knocks him out of the ring. He suplexes him back in. He locks in a side headlock. Bud fights out, but is met with a big clothesline off the ropes.
Suddenly, the Van Zandt Family Circus runs out and attacks both men with the kendo stick and stop sign.

Rocco Bellagio comes out with a picture of Rev. Stu Miles from the top of the ladder at SNS. He says he is the show stealer and career killer. He gets interrupted by a loud revving from a motorcycle and out comes Ryan Howe on a motorcycle, intoxicating the crowd with gas fumes.
Howe says that he will face Rocco next Tuesday and can't wait to be back in the ring after being away for the last several months. He says Rocco forgot to mention that he never beat him for that title. He will make sure he takes that title away from Rocco and Rocco will be sitting at home watching him defending the title every week.

#1 CONTENDERSHIP for the OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: Jessie Belle (w/Shane Andrews & Randy Royal) defeats Rebel. Rebel comes out on fire, but gets tripped from the outside. She still comes back and has Jessie locked in a submission and tapping, but Shane has the ref distracted. Jessie attacks Rebel from behind and knocks her onto the outside of the apron. Rebel jumps back in with a sunset flip, but Jessie drops down and holds the ropes for leverage where the ref doesn't see it for the 3.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: "The Legacy of Brutality": Big Zo & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeats Adam Revolver & The Mexicutioner (c). Adam is in control with Hy Zaya and Mex makes a hard tag in. Adam makes a hard tag back in and Mex shoves Adam into a backstabber from Hy. Zo comes in and hits the big legdrop for 2. Hy jumps in with a double foot stomp on Adam's arm. Josh distracts the ref & Mex, as Adam has an inside cradle, but there is no one to count. Hy hits Adam with a suplex slam. Hy goes up for Ninja Vanish, but Adam rolls away, and Hy crashes. Adam gets the tag to Mex. Mex clotheslines and slams Hy, then hits a spear. Zo gets in and gets in Mex's face. Mex goes off the ropes with shoulder blocks, then hits a big shoulder tackle to knock Zo off his feet and out of the ring. Hy is back up and goes for a superman punch, but hits referee AJ Lucio. Mex hits a Mexislam on Hy.
The Van Zandt Family Circus runs out again and attacks Adam & Mex. Mex fights back and grabs the kendo stick, but accidentally (or was it?) hits Adam. Bud Dwight & Trevor Steele run out and go after the Circus. Mex goes to hit Hy with another Mexislam, but Adam is back up and cracks Mex across his bad leg with the kendo stick. Adam walks out, and Hy connects on the Ninja Vanish for 3, and we have NEW OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!
After the match, the Legacy attacks Mex's leg. They wrap a chair around it, and Zo hits a Zo Bomb on it. Hy hits it with the kendo stick for added injury.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"CARNIVAL of CARNAGE" HARDCORE MATCH: "The Van Zandt Family Circus": Dapper Dan Van Zandt & Mad Man Pondo defeat Houdini & the Assassin. A stop sign, kendo stick, baking sheet, witch's pot, crutch, golf club, stick horse, plastic pony, rope, and garbage can are among the assortment of weapons used. Dapper Dan gets Assassin noosed in the rope and wraps it around the ring post, then hits the Doomsday finisher with Pondo on Houdini for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I see it didn't take Ryan Howe long to get a title shot. I guess when you're buddy-buddy with the owner, you get what you want.
