OVW TV #878: "Black Cloud"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, June 15, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Tony Gunn defends the TV Title in a triple threat, Shane Andrews faces Adam Revolver before the OVW Southern Tag Title match in E-Town on Saturday, OVW Heavyweight Champion Rocco Bellagio goes up against Rudy Switchblade, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

OVW Southern Tag Team Champions The Bad Boys Club come out and Shane Andrews asks Randy Royal if he heard that Rev. Stu Miles is not here tonight. He is in the pulpit leading his people. Royal takes the mic and says that he will be in Shane's corner tonight against Adam Revolver, because he doesn't trust referee AJ Lucio or anyone else. Jessie Belle says it doesn't matter that she will be banned from ringside in E-Town on Saturday, because the Bad Boys will do what they do best and retain the Southern Tag Team Titles. She says they are a title short, and says she wants her title back. Circus girl Scarlet got lucky, and Dean Hill better do what's right and give her a title shot or she will wreck lives and leave with the title one way or another.
"Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Jessie Belle & "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews) defeats The Assassin. Assassin throws Royal down a couple times and hits some shoulder blocks. Shane grabs Assassin and allows Royal to take advantage. He hits Assassin and works over his back and then his knee. Assassin comes back with some clotheslines, but Shane gets on the apron distracting Assassin and referee AJ Lucio. Jessie gets a chair and hands it to Royal. Royal hits it against the mat, then throws it to Assassin as he turns around. Royal falls to the mat and acts like he was hit as AJ turns around. AJ calls for the bell allowing Royal to win by DQ.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Ron Hed & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, and Ron is the ring announcer.
"The Party Starter" Bud Dwight defeats Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/OVW Women's Champion Scarlet & Little Damion). Dan comes to the ring with a picture of Ringmaster and says they may be one man short, but the show must go on. He says Ringmaster will be back better than ever, but they will rise in the meantime. Dan takes Dwight down and knocks him down with a shoulder block. Dwight comes back with a drop toehold and atomic drop. He locks in a side headlock and Scarlet gets on the apron. Damion gets on the other side and distracts Dwight, allowing Dan to pull Dwight down from behind by his hair. He throws Dwight hard into the corner and splashes him. He shoulders Dwight in the corner and hammers him across the chest. He then connects with a cannonball on a seated Dwight in the corner. He tries to pin for 2. He charges Dwight in the corner, but eats a boot. Dwight with clotheslines and the high knee. Damion is on the apron again, but this time, Dwight moves and Dan knocks Damion to the floor. Dwight tries to roll Dan up for 2. They get up and Dan tries for the Death Valley Driver, but Dwight slips out and catches Dan with the in-knee-briator for the 3.
After the match, Dwight tells Tony Gunn that Dean Hill's 30 days are almost up, but during that time he will be making Gunn's life miserable.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE TRIPLE THREAT: "Shotgun" Tony Gunn (c) defeats Tyler Matrix (w/Torey Payne) and "Primetime" Robbie Walker. A fast paced match with Walker & Matrix involved. As Matrix & Walker are fighting inside, Gunn climbs to the top rope. Matrix kicks Walker into the corner and it causes Gunn to fall uncomfortably below the belt onto the top turnbuckle. Matrix jumps up and hits a kick to the head that knocks Gunn to the floor. Back inside, Matrix goes up top. He leaps off, but sees Walker moving, and tries to land and roll through, but comes down badly on his leg. He is still able to connect with a pele kick that knocks Walker out of the ring, but Gunn gets back in, drops Matrix, and makes him tap to the YTO.
After the match, Bud Dwight runs out with a chair and chases Gunn out of the ring again.

Big Zo defeats Brother Reed. Reed tries to use his speed early. He hits a dropkick and leaps off the top rope over Zo and off the ropes, but runs into a clothesline that spins him upside down. Zo with a big slam and legdrop. He then picks Reed up and powerbombs him for the 3.

Adam Revolver defeats "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews (w/Jessie Belle & Randy Royal). Shane controls early. He hits the double foot stomp, but misses a lionsault. He fires back and Royal gets on the arpon. He gets hit off, then Adam rolls Shane up in an inside cradle for the 3.

#1 CONTENDER for the OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Trevor Steele defeats Stephon Smith. Steele throws Stephon so hard in the corner that it knocks the camera off the cameraman's shoulder on the apron. Steele knocks Stephon down, then big boots him to the floor outside. Stephon rolls back in and catches Steele up in the ropes hurting his leg and then focuses his attack on it. He locks in a single leg Boston crab. Steele gets back to his feet, hits Stephon, but Stephon goes up and hits a flying thump for 2. Stephon is frustrated and grabs a chair, but Rudy Switchblade comes out and takes the chair and chases him around and into the ring. Steele meets him with the chicken wing submission and Stephon taps.

OVW Heavyweight Champion Rocco Bellagio defeats Rudy Switchblade. Rudy goes after the big man with kicks. He hits an elbow drop. He stomps Rocco's hands and hits a dropkick. He then hurricanrana's him out of the ring. Rocco jumps back on the apron, but Rudy baseball slides into his feet and knocks him back down. He forearms Rocco outside and chops him. Back inside, Rocco boots Rudy, hits him, and hits in the turnbuckle. Rudy dropkicks him, but Rocco comes back and stomps him. He throws him through the ropes to the floor. He goes out and hits Rudy's head off the arpon and rolls him back in. He goes for the Plunge, but Rudy elbows out, runs off the ropes and into a spinebuster. Rocco with a headlock and Rudy gets out with chinbusters and hits a running neckbreaker. He runs into another boot. Rocco goes for the Plunge again, but Rudy reverses into a bulldog. He pins for 2. He dropkicks Rocco into the corner and then jumps off the top rope and splashes Rocco across his back. He pins again for 2 as Rocco grabs the rope. Stephon Smith runs out, and Rudy catches a fist and flips him into the ring. He locks him in the elevated Boston crab. Rocco is back, and Rudy locks him in, but Rocco kicks him off. Rudy goes up, but Rocco meets him. Rudy knocks him off, but back on the mat, Rocco gets Rudy with the Plunge for the 3.
After the match, Stephon runs back in and attacks Rudy, thumping him in the head twice as he is seated in the corner. He grabs a chair, but Dean Hill is out. Dean says enough, and says there must be a black cloud over this place. He says last week, Big Jon was out here puking and coughing up blood everywhere, tonight (unseen by those in attendance) Tony Gunn attacked Bud Dwight in the back, and now this. He says he has news that will affect everyone out here, as well as the fans and the July Saturday Night Special. He will tell everyone what that announcement is...next week!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Josh Ashcraft comes out and says he is who he is because of everyone here and he hates all of them. He tried to be nice, but next week him & Daniel Eads will start leaving everyone they cheer for bruised and broken. "The Legacy of Brutality" begins in 7 days.

Little Damion (w/Dapper Dan Van Zandt & OVW Women's Champion Scarlet) defeats Houdini. A true battle of the big men! During the match, Dapper Dan cracks the picture frame of Ringmaster over Houdini's back, but Houdini still kicks out. Houdini comes back with a spear, but Scarlet gets on the apron.
