OVW TV #713: "Coalition Invasion"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 17, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Doug Williams wants to prove a point to Jamin Olivencia, Randy Royal goes 1-on-1 with Rockstar Spud for the OVW Television Title, Trina goes after Epiphany's OVW Women's Title, Moose & Johnny Spade continue their battle, the Coalition looks to take over OVW and do as they please, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"VIP" Joe Rosa (w/the VIP Entourage) vs. Rudy Switchblade.
VIP kicks Rudy, punches him, and rams his head into the turnbuckle. Rudy comes back with a kick, slam, and then he stomps on Matt King's hand. VIP is able to hit Rudy from behind, but Rudy comes back and locks VIP in an elevated Boston crab. Roberto gets on the ring apron and Rudy breaks the hold to chase him off. VIP takes out Rudy's knee from behind. Rudy hits a chinbuster, but VIP comes back and hits a backdrop. He misses the V-I-P legdrop, and Rudy hits an inverted atomic drop, followed by a standard atomic drop. He punches VIP, and then takes out the Entourage at ringside. He locks VIP back in the Boston crab and makes him tap out.
WINNER: RUDY by submission.
MY TAKE: Rudy continues to pick up wins since his split with Jessie Godderz.

4M: "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus vs. Flash Flanagan.
4M locks up with Flash into the corner, and clean breaks. Flash kicks him and locks in an armbar. 4M reverses and locks in an armbar. Flash reverses into a side headlock. 4M throws him off the ropes and Flash runs into 4M, but he doesn't budge. Flash runs off the ropes again, but 4M hip tosses him. He delivers a slam. Flash comes back and chops 4M in the corner. He throws him ino the opposite corner and charges, but 4M moves. 4M then throws Flash into the opposite corner, but runs into a boot. Flash goes up top and hits a flying neckbreaker drop for the pin and the win.
WINNER: FLASH by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Flash returns once again and shows off his veteran skills.

AJ Williams vs. Sam Shaw.
Shaw, still angry with the Coalition, comes in and pounds away on AJ. He hits a dropkick, and shoulders AJ in the gut in the corner. AJ kicks him and tries to suplex him twice, but Shaw delivers a suplex of his own. He hits AJ with some big blows, causing AJ to do a 360. Shaw hits a codebreaker and gets the pin.
WINNER: SHAW by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Shaw must have been visualizing the Coalition with every strike, making quick work of poor AJ.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv and on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 12 noon with replays Wednesdays at 9PM after WWE Main Event.

The show opens up with the Coalition going over war strategies and they say they are going to have some fun tonight...

"Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz vs. Eddie F. Diamond (w/Timmy Danger & Bobbi Bardot).
A good back and forth match with both men trying to hit some of their signature moves like the Soulja Boy Shuffle from EFD and the patented legdrop from Jessie, both moves missed. The Coalition came out and attacked EFD and Jessie ran away. EFD was destroyed, especially after a top rope powerbomb by Shiloh Jonze, and had to be helped to the back. Epiphany came out after the Coalition left to check on him.
NO CONTEST.
MY TAKE: Right away, it looked like this could be a trend for the evening with the Coalition.

Ryan Howe vs. Doug Williams.
Doug grabs a mic and calls out Jamin. He says Jamin cowardly attacked and injured him last week and he wants to prove a point tonight. He says he has already invoked his rematch clause for the next Saturday Night Special in May. He turns and blasts Howe in the head with the microphone and it shatters all over the ring. He gouges and kicks Howe. He hits a backdrop, hits Howe, and rakes his eyes. He throws Howe into the turnbuckle and kicks him some more. Jamin runs into the ring and after Doug, and Doug slips out.
WINNER: WILLIAMS by DQ.
MY TAKE: It looks like Doug is trying to rile Jamin up and maybe play some mind games with him in order to try and win back the Heavyweight Title.

In the back, Tony Gunn asks Randy Royal about last week. Royal says he can't wait any longer, he has bill collectors breathing down his neck and had to make a choice, and can't wait to play by their rules. Gunn says he has Royal's back 100%, but wants to know these things. We then see Michael Hayes holding back Moose & Johnny Spade. He says this has gone on long enough, and they will face off in the main event tonight. He tells them not to touch each other until then. We then see the Coalition Generals sneak attack Sam Shaw from behind and lay him out.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Tony Gunn) vs. Rockstar Spud (c).
Royal & Gunn come out and then Spud makes his entrance, but is attacked by the Coalition's Delta Squad Alpha. Spud can't compete. Royal grabs a mic upset that they ruined his chance to go after the TV Title and calls them out. Gunn tries to slow him down, but Royal tells him he's with him or against him. Delta Squad Alpha returns and we now have a tag match...
"The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal & Tony Gunn vs. Delta Squad Alpha: "Sergeant Major" Jack Black & "Lieutenant Lats" Joe Coleman.
Royal & Gunn take the fight to them, but DSA quickly gains control which they have for much of the match. Coleman does pushups across Royal's back which chokes him across the second rope. They exchange blows, but Coleman gets Royal in the corner and tags Black. Black chokes and kicks Royal, and tags Coleman. Coleman hits him in the corner, and tries to pin for 2. Black tags in, splashes Randy in the corner and hits a clubbing blow to the head. Coleman tags back in, hits Royal, and shoulders him in the gut in the corner. He elbows Royal's leg, and tags Black back. Royal starts to fight back kicking and hitting Black, but Black takes him back down with a big clothesline. He puts him in a sleeper, that Royal tries to elbow out of, but Black releases and knocks Gunn off the apron. Coleman comes in and slams and tries to pin for 2. He hits him, knees him, and hits a snapmare. He puts Royal in a sleeper, but Royal breaks out with a chinbuster. Coleman dropkicks him to keep from tagging Gunn in. Black tags in and stomps and chokes Royal. Coleman elbows him from the outside with the ref distracted. Coleman tags in and hits a kidney shot to Royal. Royal comes back and hits a reverse Russian leg sweep. He makes the tag to Gunn. Tony comes in with coltheslines and a dropkick, and hits a backdrop on Black. Delta Team Bravo runs out, and with the ref distracted, Shiloh throws an ammo chain to Coleman, who hits Gunn in the head. Coleman gets the pin as the Coalition beats on Gunn after the match.
WINNERS: DELTA SQUAD ALPHA by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The Coalition continued their attacks and showed their strength in numbers.

OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: Trina vs. Epiphany (c).
Epiphany controls early as EFD stumbles out with his head bandaged to watch. Epiphany hits a spear and her attention turns to EFD at ringside. Trina tries to roll her up for 2. Epiphany hits a big slam and again talks to EFD at ringside. She turns around and Trina kicks her and hits a big DDT for the 3!
WINNER and NEW OVW WOMEN'S CHAMPION: TRINA by pinfall.
After the match, Epiphany starts yelling at EFD, and he passes out. She picks him up and carries him to the back.
MY TAKE: An impressive return for Trina, who is 2-0. She won the #1 contendership, and now the title.

In the back, Jay Bradley is talking to Johnny Spade. He says he knows he doesn't trust a lot of people, and he wouldn't trust himself either. He says that if the opportunity presents itself tonight, though, in his match with Moose, he should think about it. We then see Taeler Hendrix trying to help ice down Ryan Howe's wounds. She says he should play that song, but he says he was just trying to get back at Dylan Bostic. She says what about the gifts? Dylan Bostic comes in and attacks Howe, and drags Taeler out of the room.

"Smooth" Johnny Spade vs. James "Moose" Thomas.
Spade kicks Moose in the leg and chops him in the corner. Moose comes back and kicks Spade and delivers some big chops of his own to Spade. He slams him and goes for the Moose Drop off the second rope, but Spade moves. Spade comes back with his juke and jive punches. Referee Chris Sharpe gets knocked out. Spade hits a high knee on Moose in the corner. Jay Bradley comes out with a chair and gives it to Spade with Moose down. Spade thinks about it, but tosses the chair back to Bradley and super kicks it into his face. Moose is back up and hits the Moose Kick on Spade, but the Coalition runs out and attacks both men. They hit Spade's leg with a chair, and deliver a spike piledriver to Moose on the chair.
NO CONTEST.
MY TAKE: The Coalition made their presence felt tonight taking out anyone and everyone. Who can stop them?

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

6-DIVA TAG TEAM MATCH: Taeler Hendrix, Nikki St. John, & Lovely Lylah vs. Hannah & Holly Blossom, & Jessie Belle.
Taeler, Lylah, & Nikki sneak up behind the Blossoms & Jessie Belle, but they turn around in time to take them down. They hit bronco busters in each corner and then throw Lylah, Taeler, & Nikki into each other. All 3 pin at the same time for the quick victory.
WINNERS: JESSIE BELLE & BLOSSOMS by pinfall.
MY TAKE: A dominating performance from the Southern Belle & Twin Magic.

The Mascara Mafia: Espy & Paredyse (w/Chris) vs. Jamin Olivencia & "The Welsh Colossus" Rob Terry.
Jamin flips Paredyse into the ring. He hits his head into the turnbuckle and tags Rob. Paredyse scampers to his corner and tags Espy. Terry tosses Espy in rams him into the turnbuckle. He shoulders him in the gut and tags Jamin. Jamin hits a suplex and locks in a headlock. Espy tags Paredyse who runs in to 3 hip tosses from Jamin. Paredyse tries to crawl out of the arena, but Rob catches him and throws him back in the ring. Jamin hits him in the corner and hits a backdrop for 2. Rob tags in and knees Paredyse and hits a standing vertical suplex in which he held Paredyse up for a good minute. He throws Paredyse off the ropes and hits a big shoulder tackle. Espy runs in and is hit with a shoulder tackle also. Paredyse gets back up and Terry launches him onto Espy on the outside. Terry throws Paredyse into the wall around ringside. Back in the ring, he hits a big hip toss. He charges Paredyse in the corner, but Espy pushes Paredyse out of the way, and Rob rams his shoulder into the turnbuckle. Espy pulls Rob's arm across the top rope. The Mafia double teams Terry as Jamin tries to get in. They work on the shoulder a bit, and Paredyse goes up top. He hits a missile dropkick, but on Espy instead of Rob. Rob makes the tag to Jamin, who comes in on fire. He hits his kamikaze splashes in the corner, and the jumping clothesline on Paredyse. Espy breaks up a pin attempt, and Rob is back in. They ram Espy & Paredyse into each other, and then both of them hit their finishers and pin them for the win.
WINNERS: JAMIN & ROB by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Jamin & Rob made a nice team to take down the Mascara Mafia.

Don't forget this episode will be up online tomorrow. Every Monday, the weekly Top 20 is posted here on OVWmania. As always, thanks for reading!

  3. I was impressed with Trina as well, but I was afraid she was going to lose her "tag team partners" before the match was over.
