OVW TV #711: "Of Course You Know, This Means War"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 3, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Jamin Olivencia finds trouble around every corner, New School is ready to go to war with the Coalition, Rob Terry is in action, Rockstar Spud defends the TV Title against Cliff Compton, Epiphany defends the Women's Title against Taeler Hendrix, Paredyse is on the run from Brittany Devore, plus more!

Without further ado:

 Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Mister Marvelous vs. Scott Cardinal.
This marked Cardinal's return to Davis Arena. Marvelous threw him down twice displaying his strength. Cardinal ran off the ropes and ran into Marvelous, but didn't budge him. Cardinal told him to try, but Cardinal moves and uses Marvelous' momentum to throw him out of the ring. Cardinal gets out on the apron and hammers Marvelous after he gets back in. Marvelous flips him back inside. He drops an elbow, and then puts him in the bearhug. Cardinal breaks out, hits Marvelous in the corner, and gets out on the apron. He tries a sunset flip into the ring, but Marvelous drops down and holds on to the ring ropes for the 3.
WINNER: MARVELOUS by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Marvelous steals one to ruin Cardinal's return.

Delta Squad Alpha: "Sergeant Major" Jack Black & "Lieutenant Lats" Joe Coleman (w/Delta Team Bravo & Ghillie) vs. Lambda Lambda Lambda: Stephon J. Baxter III & Albert E. Baxter II.
Coleman knees Stephon, throws him off the ropes, and hits a dropkick. Black tags in, splashes Stephon, and Stephon tags in Albert. Black knees him, and then slams him on his face. He distracts the ref while Shiloh Jonze & Raul LaMotta of Delta Team Bravo choke Albert. Coleman tags in and delivers 2 big hip tosses. Black comes in, but Albert tags Stephon. Black takes him down, and Coleman chokes him. Coleman charges him in the corner, but he moves. Black comes back in, and hits Stephon, and him & Coleman finish him off after Black clotheslines Stephon as Coleman takes out his legs for the pin and the win, as Delta Team Bravo pull Albert off the apron and beat him down on the floor.
WINNERS: DELTA SQUAD ALPHA by pinfall.
MY TAKE: The Coalition is taking business to a high level as they march into this week's Saturday Night Special "Zero Dark 30".

Bodyguy vs. "Dirdey" Jake Dirden.
Bodyguy comes out and says that he tried to train another partner last week, but he couldn't cut it. He doesn't have a body, anyway. Dirden comes charging out and attacks Bodyguy, hitting his head in every corner's turnbuckle. Dirden has Bodyguy in the corner, but Bodyguy is able to roll Dirden up and get a 3 count with his feet on the ropes.
WINNER: BODYGUY by pinfall.
After the match, the Assassin once again takes out the Bodyguy with the clothesline.
MY TAKE: The Bodyguy really wants the #1 spot given to him on the April Fools edition of the Top 20.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv and now on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 12 noon with replays Wednesdays at 9PM after WWE Main Event.

The show starts off with surveillance video of Jamin Olivencia arriving at the arena and almost getting rundown by a car in the parking lot.

Michael Hayes comes to the ring and says he is the Director of Operations and welcomes everyone to the premiere episode of OVW on WBNA ion-21. He says this couldn't have been done without all the fans. He is interrupted by the Coalition's music and they all file into the ring. Crimson is still angry about losing his Heavyweight Title shot and the Coalition surrounds Hayes. New School runs out and the Coalition retreats out of the ring. Silva & Shaw declare war on them and want to fight now, 2 out of 3 falls for the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles. Jason Wayne says normally they wouldn't accept a challenge like that, but if it's for the titles, then okay. Hayes makes the match official, but tells the rest of the Coalition to go to the back. Silva & Shaw go to the outside after Crimson & Wayne, but they have their backs turned to the curtain. The rest of the Coalition comes back out and attacks from behind. Hayes tells them to quit and throws them out of the building, but the damage has been done.
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES, 2 OUT OF 3 FALLS: The Coalition's Generals: "He-Man of Homeland Security" Jason Wayne & "Red Baron of Ruthless Reconnaissance" Crimson vs. New School: Alex Silva & Sam Shaw (c).
Silva is rolled in the ring and Crimson demands that referee Josh Ashcraft ring the bell. Crimson pins Silva. WINNERS of Fall #1: COALITION. After a 10 second rest period, Jason Wayne wants to be tagged in. He comes in marching around the ring and does jumping jacks and pushups. He finally tries to pin Silva 4 times, but Silva manages to kick out each time at 2. Crimson & Wayne corner Ashcraft yelling about the count. Silva recovers enough to roll Wayne up for 3. WINNERS of Fall #2: NEW SCHOOL. A groggy Silva pulls himself up in the corner and Wayne charges, but Silva moves and tags Shaw. Shaw comes in with dropkicks galore. He clotheslines Crimson out of the ring and goes up top for Breaking Point on Wayne. Wayne fakes a leg injury and Shaw jumps down. Crimson grabs him from the outside and hits a neckbreaker across the top rope. Wayne tries to pin, but Shaw kicks out at 2. Wayne locks Shaw in a headlock and tags Crimson. Crimson delivers a big slam and an elbow drop. He tries to pin, but Shaw kicks out at 2. Crimson elbows him and twists his neck in a submission. Shaw tries to fight out, but Crimson knees him and hits another big neckbreaker. Pin attempt for 2. Crimson throws him in the corner and tags Wayne. Crimson throws Wayne into Shaw. Wayne does his choking pushups, and then chokes him across the middle rope. Crimson comes back in and they do a wishbone on Shaw. They throw Shaw off the ropes and try a double backflip, but Shaw lands on his feet. He jumps over Wayne, ducks Crimson, and tags Silva. Silva comes in on fire, clotheslining both of them down, but suddenly drops and passes out. Shaw comes back in to try and fight Crimson & Wayne off, but Crimson throws Shaw out of the ring. Crimson sets Silva's lifeless body up for a piledriver, and Wayne helps Crimson spike piledrive him from the second rope. They pin Silva and we have new champions.
WINNERS and NEW OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: COALITION by pinfall.
After the match, Silva was stretchered out of the ring.
MY TAKE: The Coalition's "kill 'em all" attitude may have seriously injured Alex Silva, but the only thing they care about is the titles.

Doug Williams comes out and says sometimes bad things happen to good people, like what just happened with Alex Silva. He said sometimes good things happen to bad people, like Jamin Olivencia. He says Michael Hayes rewrote the rule book for him to be #1 contender, but he will honor their title match. He says he wants Jamin to be at 100%, and forbid anything happen to him before their match at SNS.

The VIP Club's Matt King & Austin Bradley (w/J. Best & Roberto De Luna) vs. "The Welsh Colossus" Rob Terry.
This was a handicap match, but more for the VIP Club. They could have used Best & Roberto for help. Rob totally destroys both men, laying in some nasty chops on Austin, and flinging both men all over the ring. Rob finishes them off after hitting his finisher on King.
WINNER: TERRY by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Big Rob shows off his impressive strength as he looks to climb back into title contention.

In the back, Jessie Godderz is waiting outside the locker room with a chair for Rudy Switchblade. Bodyguy walks out and gets hit with a chair. The camera pans out and there's a pile of wrestlers including Elvis Pridemoore and Nick Dumeyer among others on the floor, who have all been laid out by Jessie.

"Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz vs. Rudy Switchblade.
Jessie comes out and says he is better than Rudy and wants to finish this once and for all. He says he was always the best of the Best Team Ever and Rudy wasn't even #2, his arm was, because his arm is more talented than Rudy's whole body. Rudy rolls out from under the ring with their referee and hits Jessie from behind. He claws Jessie with back scratch fever, but Jessie comes back with an enziguri. Jessie grabs the chair, but Rudy grabs the other side. They fight over it and accidentally clock the referee. Michael Hayes comes out and says this has gone on long enough and it's time to settle this. They will fight at SNS in a lumberjack match.
NO CONTEST.
MY TAKE: Will we finally find out who the best of the Best Team Ever was at SNS?

In the back, Cliff Compton walks up on Rockstar Spud and talks about being Batman. He talks about Spud being a little man, but he likes him and compares him to Robin. Spud goes off on Cliff. We then see a hysterical Paredyse worried about Brittany Devore with Espy & Chris. Chris disappears, then Espy disappears, then Brittany shows up as a frightened Paredyse runs off and out to the ring. He apologizes and tells Brittany they can be friends. The lights go out and Brittany shows up again saying she will take him to the gates of hell, and then everybody will laugh at him. He drops the microphone and runs away scared.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "The Great" Cliff Compton vs. Rockstar Spud (c).
Cliff tries to kick Spud, but Spud grabs his foot and takes him down. Cliff kicks him off into the ropes, but Spud comes back with a cross body. Cliff knocks Spud to the outside. Back in, Cliff hits him in the corner, but Spud kicks his way out, then hits a running kick off the ropes. He climbs up top, but Cliff hits the ropes, making Spud fall. Cliff goes off the ropes, but Spud trips him and rolls him up for the 3.
WINNER and STILL OVW TV CHAMPION: SPUD by pinfall.
After the match, Cliff attacks Spud from behind and leaves him laying on the floor.
MY TAKE: Spud's successful title run continues, but Cliff is not too happy about it.

In the back, Taeler Hendrix asks Dylan Bostic to come out with her for her match and tells him that when she's happy, he's happy. She kisses him as Jamin Olivencia walks by. He starts walking up a set of steps as a garbage can comes flying at him that he dodges.

OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: Taeler Hendrix (w/Dylan Bostic) vs. Epiphany (c).
Taeler hits Epiphany, but it doesn't faze her. Epiphany hits her back and butt bumps her in the corner. She follows it up with a big slam on Taeler. Epiphany runs off the ropes, but Dylan trips her and drags her to the outside. They argue as the ref checks on Taeler. Eddie Diamond runs out and dives out on Dylan. Taeler is back up and grabs Epiphany by the hair, but Epiphany pulls Taeler's head down across the top rope. She gets back in and delivers her twisting suplex finisher for the 3.
WINNER and STILL OVW WOMEN'S CHAMPION: EPIPHANY by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Eddie returns the favor by helping Epiphany with outside interference, as the problems between Taeler & Dylan continue.

In the back, Moose & Johnny Spade argue again. Jay Bradley walks in and calls them girls and says he will see them in the 3-way at SNS. Jamin walks by and is almost taken out by a falling ladder.

Jamin Olivencia comes to the ring and says Doug Williams wants to take him out, but he is calling Doug out now. Doug comes out and says he wants Jamin at 100% and is coming up with crazy conspiracies, but Jamin attacks Doug and they brawl as the locker room empties and tries to break them apart. Doug gets loose and cracks Jamin in the side of the head with the title.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"The Ken of OVW, Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling, and King of Pink" Dylan Bostic vs. "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer.
Dylan trips Dumeyer. He gets him in the corner and then yanks his arm across the top rope. He kicks Dumeyer, works over his arm, and delivers a snapmare. He misses an elbow, and Dumeyer works over Dylan's arm. Dylan goes down faking an ankle injury, and as Dumeyer talks to the ref, Dylan jumps up and delivers a backstabber for the 1-2-3.
WINNER: BOSTIC by pinfall.
MY TAKE: Bostic outsmarts the Marksman as Elvis came out after the match saying he cheated, much like Dumeyer did the week before when Dylan beat Elvis.

4-CORNER TAG TEAM MATCH: Rudy Switchblade & James "Moose" Thomas vs. "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz & "Lonesome" Jay Bradley vs. "Smooth" Johnny Spade & Tony Gunn vs. Ryan Howe & "The Welsh Colossus" Rob Terry.
I got caught up in all the back and forth of this match. There were several tags in and out, but it ended with everyone hitting each other out of the ring, leaving Bradley, Spade, & Moose. Moose was face-to-face with Bradley, but Spade shoved him out of the way and Bradley clocked Spade with the Boomstick. Moose went after Bradley, but he rolled out of the ring. Moose pinned the fallen Spade for the victory.
WINNERS: MOOSE & RUDY by pinfall.
MY TAKE: It should be an intense 3-way dance between Bradley, Spade, & Moose at SNS. A nice win for Rudy on his birthday as he heads into a lumberjack battle with Jessie.

Don't forget this episode will be up online tomorrow. Every Monday, the weekly Top 20 is posted here on OVWmania. As always, thanks for reading!

  1. Wow! Looks like a great evening and a lot of changes again. And a whopper of a SNS. Glad to see the ladies get the necessary exposure, except their sequence still remains the same. Now that OVW is able to spread with ION, Taeler, with her huge popularity really needs to be the champion. Mahalo for posting the results.

    1. Dude we get it, you and a bunch of other perves who had no clue she existed before last July have a crush on Taeler but at least pay attention if you're going to keep making your comments. The most popular girl in OVW (crowd reaction wise) actually has the title right now and she might possibly be the 3rd most popular female in the HISTORY of the company (Behind ODB and Serena Deeb). Maybe watch an episode or two and you'd realise one of Taeler's main problems is her inability to get a crowd to care about her as a face or a heel. Heck, the only reason the fans stopped calling her a "prostitot" in matches is because Bostic has sucked up what little heel heat she had left. Not to mention the whole reason she is a heel in the first place is because the crowd was starting to cheer anyone she went against when she was a face. She's a rookie learning the craft and both Al Snow and Bruce Prichard said as much during her gutcheck segment (though not as nice as that). I'm not saying don't be a fan but at least live in reality and stop bashing the OVW product which is the best it's been in YEARS.
