OVW TV #686: "Terry vs. Crimson!"

Tonight at the Davis Arena, we saw the battle we had all been waiting for between Crimson and Rob Terry in a showdown for the OVW Heavyweight Title. Also, Alex Silva defended the TV Title against Cliff Compton, the Best Team Ever was in action, Johnny Spade was in a foul mood, and we saw the OVW TV debut of Sam Shaw.

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Match:

The Mobile Homers b. Ace Hawkins & Raphael Constantine. Both Ted & Adam must've spent the last few days drinking their sorrows away after not capturing the tag titles at SNS. They both staggered to the ring as drunk as could be. Adam started out strong against Ace, before each man tagged in their partners. Raphael took control against Ted after pantsing him, and him & Ace tagged in and out working over him until Ted made the hot tag back to Adam. Adam came in on fire and took Ace out of the ring, and then set up the Double Wide with Ted which they hit for the pin and the win. MY TAKE: The rocket fuel might not have helped at SNS, but the Mobile Homers did pick up an important tag team win tonight.

That was tonight's only pre-show dark match. I always suggest watching the show first before reading my full report. You can find the shows posted online late Thursday afternoons/evenings at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

"The Leg Breaker" Rocco Bellagio (w/Joe Coleman & Chris Bolin) vs. Sam Shaw. Rocco's strength and power were no match for Shaw early as he was clearly in control. Rocco dominated as Coleman and Bolin watched on. Shaw tried to fight back but was caught and slammed after trying to jump on Rocco from the top rope. While Bolin was arguing with the ref, Rocco picked up Shaw and held him as Coleman went up to the top rope with a chain in hand. Coleman dove off, but Shaw ducked, and Rocco was nailed instead. Shaw went up top and hit his cannonball leg drop finisher for the win. WINNER: SHAW by pinfall. MY TAKE: Neither Bolin nor Rocco looked too pleased with Coleman's error. Shaw picks up a big win over a big opponent as he heads into a TV Title match this Sunday against another former GutCheck winner in Alex Silva.

Cliff Compton came out and said that he proved at Saturday Night Special once and for all that he is the greatest attraction, but now it's time to move on to other things. He said for everyone who knows their history, he's been OVW Heavyweight Champion, OVW Southern Tag Team Champion, but there's one belt he has yet to hold and that's the OVW TV Title that is held by Alex Silva. He said the only reason Silva has the belt is because he has never faced him. Silva's music hits and he comes out with a referee and says he can try and back up what he's saying right now. Compton says he didn't mean now, but as soon as Silva turns his back, Cliff attacks and the match is underway...
OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Cliff Compton vs. Alex Silva (c). Cliff takes the early advantage, but Silva manages to fight back and gets a roll up for the win. My memory fails me on the exact finish, but Silva didn't use the Silva Surfer tonight. WINNER: SILVA by pinfall. MY TAKE: Silva continues going strong as he heads into a battle on Sunday defending the TV Title against rising superstar Sam Shaw.

We get a video from Eddie Diamond & his "hype man" Timmy Danger. They now have a weekly show on Youtube. They hyped each other up and said that Johnny Spade was their "Suckah of the Week" for being in the shortest lived tag team ever after Doug Williams turned on him at SNS. They said he must be a "Suckah" because he can't keep a partner.

"The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal & Tony Gunn vs. The Best Team Ever: Rudy Switchblade & "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz. Godderz takes control against Gunn to start out. He and Rudy continue to argue over tagging in and out and which moves they should do. This allows Gunn to tag in Royal who comes in and takes down Rudy. He tags Gunn back in who hits the airplane spin. Gunn tags Royal back in and he hits the Royal Treatment, but Godderz breaks up the pin. Gunn comes in, but Godderz throws him to the outside. Godderz & Switchblade botch their finisher, because they still aren't clicking on all cylinders. However, Godderz slams Royal and Rudy hits the frog splash off the top rope to pick up the win. WINNERS: BEST TEAM EVER by pinfall. MY TAKE: BTE escapes with another win, but their team chemistry is still lacking. Maybe they need to do some trust exercises or something to get back on the same track.

"Mr. VIP" vs. "Smooth" Johnny Spade. Spade flew out to the ring and immediately took VIP down with rights and lefts to the head. He threw him into the corner and hit 2 high knees before finishing him off fast with the Spade Kick. WINNER: SPADE by pinfall. After the match, Spade grabs a mic and calls out Doug Williams. Williams appears on the screens and says he's several thousand miles away, but he knows some guys who would love to meet him in the ring. The Wild Cards come out and Spade keeps them both away as Williams sneaks in and attacks Spade. Spade is holding his own as Sam Shaw runs out with the great equalizer known as a steel chair to run them all off. Spade shakes his head and says he doesn't trust anyone and tells Shaw to get out of here. MY TAKE: Spade's trust is out the window. He just wants his hands on Williams, the Wild Cards, and Crimson.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Rob Terry vs. Crimson (c). Crimson comes limping out with a crutch, but will compete anyway. Terry pummels Crimson early and clotheslines him over the top rope. The ref tells Terry to stay back as him and 2 other officials check on Crimson on the floor. They start to help Crimson to the back as Terry turns to enter the ring. Crimson is suddenly cured and attacks Terry from behind and rams him into the steel ringpost. He takes control for most of the match keeping the big man grounded. Terry starts to fight back when the Wild Cards run out. Terry fights them off, but turns around into a spinebuster from Crimson. 1-2-NO! Terry kicks out. Raul distracts the ref as Shiloh hands the crutch to Crimson. Crimson is measuring Terry when Johnny Spade comes flying out and grabs the crutch and hits Crimson with it. Terry gets to his feet and hits a side slam as Spade chases the Wild Cards around the ring with the crutch. 1-2-NO! Crimson kicks out at 2 9/10. As Spade chases the Wild Cards, Doug Williams runs out and clotheslines him. Terry is distracted and turns around into a spear from Crimson for the 3. WINNER: CRIMSON by pinfall. After the match, Sam Shaw runs out again and helps Rob & Spade run Crimson's Army off. Trailer Park Trash comes out and says that next week we will have an 8-man tag: Doug Williams, the Wild Cards, & Crimson vs. Sam Shaw, Rob Terry, Johnny Spade, and a mystery partner. MY TAKE: Spade will have to trust Shaw and Terry as well as a partner to be named later in order to get his hands on his 4 biggest rivals. Who will the mystery partner be?

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Elvis Pridemoore (w/Bobbi Bardot & Cinnamon Twist) b. Jeremiah Plunkett. Plunkett controlled most of the match until Elvis fought back late with a couple shots and his inverted stunner to get the win. MY TAKE: Poor Jeremiah has yet to get a win since his arrival.

Heidi Lovelace & Jessie Belle b. Laila Lodge & Taeler Hendrix (w/Dylan Bostic). Taeler and Laila attacked Heidi & Jessie as the match started. Laila had control of Jessie Belle when Taeler demanded to be tagged in. Taeler came in did her thing until Laila tagged back in. Laila & Taeler argued about the tags while Jessie Belle made the tag to a fresh Heidi. Heidi came in and dropkicked Laila into Taeler, knocking Taeler off the apron. Heidi hit her enziguri finisher for the win. MY TAKE: Another loss for Taeler who blames Dylan of course, who had nothing to do with the match. Heidi gets back on the winning track after faltering against Josette at SNS.

As Jessie Belle & Heidi are celebrating, the Assassin's music hits and they run out of the ring. It appears the Assassin is headed toward ring announcer and Fan Advocate Terry Boddie when Eddie Diamond, Swag Nation, & Bodyguy run out and surround the ring. Boddie escapes as they all get in the ring and gang up on the Assassin, who powers them all off and hits each one with a massive clothesline before chasing Timmy Danger to the back.

Doug Williams b. Ryan Howe. Howe was on fire to start the match, but the veteran found a way to come back and take control for most of the match. Howe fought back and went up top for the Chart Topper, but Williams pushed the ref into the ropes causing Howe to fall awkwardly across the top turnbuckle. Williams was able to roll Howe up and hold onto the ropes for the pin. MY TAKE: Williams stole one tonight, but can he do the same in the 8-man tag next week?

Don't forget to watch the episode online starting tomorrow. Also, don't forget about my weekly Top 20 and other special reports. I am going to Sunday's show at Derby Park Expo 5 and may provide a quick result following the show and the TNA Bound for Glory PPV that we will see following it. As always, thanks for reading!
