OVWmania Presents: OVW Top 20 (12th Edition)

This is the OVW Top 20 for the week of July 24-30, 2012 exclusively on OVWmania. As we approach another big SNS on August 4, where does tomorrow's superstars today find themselves on the list this week?

#1) "SMOOTH" JOHNNY SPADE (Last Week: #1)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Heavyweight Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Rudy Switchblade.

*Spade was inactive this week, but made his presence felt by delivering a massive superkick to Jamin Olivencia's jaw. The champ didn't take too kindly to Jamin's comments about his father, and at SNS, respect gets thrown out the window.

#2) JAMIN OLIVENCIA (Last Week: #2)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Rob Terry by DQ.

*Jamin made a good showing against the Freak, but thanks to interference from the Best Team Ever, we will never know if Jamin would have made the pin. Jamin is focused on taking the OVW Heavyweight Title away from Johnny Spade at SNS after crossing a line that shocked many people by bringing Spade's father into play.

#3) THE BEST TEAM EVER: Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz (Last Week: #5)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champions

LAST MATCH: Defeated Raul LaMotta & Shiloh Jonze.

*The Best Team Ever picked up a big win this week as they head into a semifinal match against Michael Hayes & James "Moose" Thomas this week in the Nightmare Cup. Will they prove once again that they are indeed the best team ever?

#4) MOOSE & MICHAEL HAYES (Last Week: #6)

LAST MATCH: Defeated the team of Raphael Constantine & Eddie Diamond.

*Moose & Michael continue on their hot streak, and if they can defeat the Best Team Ever in the Nightmare Cup semifinal this week, will there be any question as to whether they deserve the next shot at the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles?

#5) ROB TERRY (Last Week: #4)

LAST MATCH: Lost to Jamin Olivencia by DQ.

*The big man lost to Jamin Olivencia after interference from the Best Team Ever, but his focus seems to be more on Ali and the OVW Television Championship. Did he have something to do with the Prince of Persia's no-show last week?

#6) TONY GUNN (Last Week: #12)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Television Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Mohamad Ali Vaez by forfeit.

*Tony didn't even have to work up a sweat and won the OVW Television Championship this week. It may not have been the way he wanted to win, but his recent success earned him the opportunity. Something tells us here at the Top 20 that his first challenger might be a "freak" of nature.

#7) MOHAMAD ALI VAEZ (Last Week: #3)

LAST MATCH: Lost the OVW Television Title to Tony Gunn.

*The now former 8-time Television Champion was a no-show this week, and it cost him the title. Many in OVW feel as if Big Rob may have had something to do with that, however. What will Ali have to say about his disappearance when he returns?

#8) BRANDON ESPINOSA (Last Week: #11)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Ricky Chevy.

*Espy is back to singles competition, and looks to get himself into contention for one of the company's singles titles. Will he be able to take what he learned from his partner, Paredyse, and make some waves?

#9) CHRIS SILVIO (Last Week: #9)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Sampson.

*Silvio keeps going back and forth with Cliff Compton. Will these 2 fan favorites end up clashing at the next SNS?

#10) CLIFF COMPTON (Last Week: #10)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Dylan Bostic.

*As stated above, Compton continues to butt heads with another fan favorite in Chris Silvio. Will they try to prove who the best is once and for all at SNS?

#11) TAELER HENDRIX (Last Week: #8)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Women's Champion

LAST MATCH: Lost to Jessie Belle.

*Taeler was lucky to be in a non-title match as she lost to the Southern Belle, Jessie Belle. Will she have to defend that championship again at SNS?

#12) THE MOBILE HOMERS: Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver (Last Week: #15)

LAST MATCH: Defeated BS 2.0's Jason Wayne & Rocco Bellagio in a Nightmare Cup Semifinal.

*The power of beer and barbeque? Whatever it is, Ted & Adam are back on the same page, and are now in the finals of the Nightmare Cup Tournament after a big win over the big men of BS 2.0. They will be watching closely this week as the Best Team Ever meets Moose & Michael Hayes in the other semifinal.

#13) RYAN HOWE (Last Week: #14)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Rogue Navy.

*OVW's resident rocker continues an impressive winning streak after beating the big Rogue Navy with his Rockbuster finisher this week.

#14) JASON WAYNE & ROCCO BELLAGIO (Last Week: #7)

LAST MATCH: Lost to the Mobile Homers in the Nightmare Cup Tournament.

*The big men of BS 2.0 couldn't get the job done against the Mobile Homers, failing to advance in the Nightmare Cup. Their attention seems to be focused more on Randy Royal now after disagreeing with comments the Double R Superstar made on Twitter.

#15) JOE COLEMAN & JACK BLACK (Last Week: #17)

LAST MATCH: Defeated the Street Kings.

*The other BS 2.0 team pulls up behind their group members Rocco & Jason Wayne on this week's Top 20 after a win over LMC & J. Best. Now that the group has failed in their quest for the Nightmare Cup, what do they have in store for Randy Royal?

#16) JESSIE BELLE (Last Week: #19)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Taeler Hendrix in a non-title match.

*Jessie Belle got a huge win over the reigning Women's Champion this week, and has now put herself in contention for that same title. Can the southern belle claim the gold from Taeler?

#17) EPIPHANY (Last Week: #13)

LAST MATCH: Lost to Taeler Hendrix at SNS.

*Epiphany hasn't seen any in-ring competition since failing to regain the Women's Championship at the last SNS. This cost her a few spots on this week's list, and allowed Jessie Belle to jump over her and become the newest challenger for the gold.

#18) "RUDO" RAUL LAMOTTA & SHILOH JONZE (Last Week: #16)

LAST MATCH: Lost to the Best Team Ever.

*Ever since their attitude change, Raul & Shiloh haven't been as successful. They lost again this week and fell farther down the Top 20. What exactly are they trying to prove with their bad attitudes?

#19) ARIK KRISTOPHER (Last Week: NR)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Fabiano Rolento.

*AK makes his Top 20 debut this week after getting a win and the girl in Heidi Lovelace. This young up-and-comer has a lot of talent. Can he continue to hone his skills and climb up the Top 20?

#20) ELVIS PRIDEMOORE (Last Week: #18)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Samson.

*Elvis gained a few good wins, but then disappeared the last couple weeks. If he doesn't return to action soon, he'll be in danger of falling off the Top 20.

MISSING THE CUT:
-Heidi Lovelace
*Heidi helped AK win his match this week after being unimpressed by Fabiano. If she can pick up some wins herself, she might find her way onto the Top 20.

-Randy Royal
*BS 2.0 didn't like Randy's Twitter comments and the Double R Superstar will have to keep an eye out for this ruthless group in the coming weeks.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
*Dylan Bostic      *Street Kings      *Fabiano Rolento
*Eddie Diamond      *Raphael Constantine

  1. Hey are you going to be posting any predictions for the upcoming SNS? Also..why did you rank Epiphany?

  2. She had a big fall, and will probably be gone if she doesn't return to the ring. The predictions will depend on how many matches are announced in advance. Right now, we know Spade vs. Jamin only. My guess is that they will add Rob Terry vs. Ali, the Mobile Homers vs. the Best Team Ever in the Nightmare Cup final, and possibly Taeler vs. Jessie Belle. I'm guessing we'll find out more tonight.
