OVWmania Presents: OVW Top 20 (Week 3)

This is the third edition of the OVW Top 20 exclusively on OVWmania. Who is #1 and who is hanging on?

#1) ROB TERRY (Last Week: #1)

 CURRENT TITLES: OVW Heavyweight Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Johnny Spade & Cliff Compton in a handicap match with Rudy Switchblade, Mohamad Ali Vaez, & Jessie Godderz.

*Terry is still OVW Heavyweight Champion and although they had the numbers advantage and referee Chris Sharpe in their back pocket, the Family still was victorious.

#2) MOHAMAD ALI VAEZ (Last Week: #5)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Television Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Johnny Spade & Cliff Compton in a handicap match with Rudy Switchblade, Rob Terry, & Jessie Godderz, and successfully defended the OVW TV Title against Rogue Navy.

*Although many don't agree with the ways of the 6-time OVW TV Champion, Ali was able to gain 2 victories this week. Was he hallucinating when Chito walked by him this week?

#3) RUDY SWITCHBLADE (Last Week: #4)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Johnny Spade & Cliff Compton in a handicap match with Jessie Godderz, Mohamad Ali Vaez, & Rob Terry.

*Switchblade is part of the self-proclaimed "best team ever". Who will step up to try and take the OVW Tag Titles away from him & Godderz?

#4) JESSIE GODDERZ (Last Week: #3)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Johnny Spade & Cliff Compton in a handicap match with Rudy Switchblade, Mohamad Ali Vaez, & Rob Terry.

*Godderz and the Family won with help from Josette and referee Chris Sharpe, but was a second away from losing the OVW Tag Titles. Mr. Pec-Tacular needs to be more careful or be in danger of falling farther down the Top 20.

#5) JOHNNY SPADE (Last Week: #2)

LAST MATCH: With Cliff Compton, was defeated by Rudy Switchblade, Mohamad Ali Vaez, & Rob Terry.

*Spade is a victim of circumstance, as he had a victory and the Tag Titles in his grasp, but it was taken away by referee Chris Sharpe & Josette. He & Cliff are ready to take down the Family and take back OVW.
#6) CHITO MARTINEZ (Last Week: #6)

LAST MATCH: Defeated LaMarcus Clinton.

*Chito won a hard fought battle and continues to make a statement that he deserves to be next in line for the OVW TV Championship.

#7) CLIFF COMPTON (Last Week: #8)

LAST MATCH: With Johnny Spade, was defeated by Rudy Switchblade, Mohamad Ali Vaez, & Rob Terry.

*One of the few times a superstar climbs the Top 20 with a loss, although he shouldn't have. Cliff, along with Spade, Shiloh, Moose, and more are ready to end the Family's reign and take back OVW.

#8) CHRIS SILVIO (Last Week: #11)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Raphael Constantine.

*Silvio is back with a vengeance this week, and he is gunning for Jason Wayne. He wants to teach Wayne a lesson in respect, after turning his back on the OVW fans and people who helped him along the way.

#9) JASON WAYNE (Last Week: #7)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Chris Silvio.

*Wayne was inactive this week and it cost him two spots on the Top 20. How will he respond to the Psychadelic Superstar, Chris Silvio?

#10) RANDY ROYAL (Last Week: #12)

LAST MATCH: With Epiphany, defeated the teams of Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic and Paredyse & Blair Alexis at Saturday Night Special

*Royal helped Epiphany get a shot at the Women's Title this week by pinning Dylan Bostic up against a locker. Hopefully, it won't be too long before Randy gets a shot at some gold also.

#11) EPIPHANY (Last Week: #15)

LAST MATCH: With Randy Royal, defeated the teams of Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic and Paredyse & Blair Alexis at Saturday Night Special.

*Epiphany was able to get another rightfully deserved title shot against Taeler Hendrix thanks to her good friend and partner, Randy Royal. Can she capitalize on it at Saturday Night Special?

#12) MOOSE (Last Week: #10)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Bolin Services 2.0 in a handicap ladder match at Saturday Night Special.

*Moose tried to come to the aid of Mickey, but got beat down and handcuffed, and was forced to watch Mickey get strapped with a leather belt. If I was Chris Bolin, I'd be watching out for the big man.

#13) MICHAEL HAYES (Last Week: #9)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Bolin Services 2.0 in a handicap ladder match at Saturday Night Special.

*Unfortunately for Moose & Mickey, Hayes was away this week at a time where they could have really used some backup. Michael will surely be ready to come back after BS 2.0.

#14) SHILOH JONZE (Last Week: #13)

LAST MATCH: With Raul LaMotta, Paredyse, & Mike Mondo, lost to Adam Revolver, Jessie Godderz, Brandon Espinosa, & Rudy Switchblade.

*Although he didn't compete this week, Shiloh was one of the first men out of the locker room to back up Cliff Compton, Johnny Spade, & Moose as they try to end JO-VW.

#15) TAELER HENDRIX (Last Week: #14)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Heidi Douglas.

*Hendrix needs to worry more about her upcoming title defense against Epiphany and not as much about what Dylan Bostic is or isn't doing to help her in the process.

#16) PAREDYSE (Last Week: #17)

LAST MATCH: With Raul LaMotta, Shiloh Jonze, & Mike Mondo, lost to Brandon Espinosa, Jessie Godderz, Rudy Switchblade, & Adam Revolver.

*Paredyse was able to get a little payback this week attacking Brandon Espinosa in the locker room after Espinosa did the same last week.

#17) TONY GUNN (Last Week: #18)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Adam Revolver.

*Gunn made another opponent tap to the bearhug, but will he be able to keep his winning streak alive without the guidance of...Ralphie?

#18) DYLAN BOSTIC (Last Week: #16)

LAST MATCH: With Taeler Hendrix, lost to the team of Randy Royal & Epiphany in a match at Saturday Night Special that also featured Paredyse & Blair Alexis.

*Bostic was about to be choked out if not for Taeler giving Epiphany a title shot at Saturday Night Special. Will he try to get involved yet again, or will Randy Royal be able to keep him out?

#19) BRANDON ESPINOSA (Last Week: #19)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Raul LaMotta, Shiloh Jonze, Paredyse, & Mike Mondo, in a match with Jessie Godderz, Rudy Switchblade, & Adam Revolver.

*Was Espinosa hitting on Daniel Pruce, or was that more altered video footage? And what will he have to say about the attack by Paredyse?

#20) BOLIN SERVICES 2.0 (Last Week: NR)

LAST MATCH: Chris Bolin vs. Mickey McMichaels went to a no-contest.

*BS 2.0 has decided to stick together and picked on poor Mickey this week when they were supposed to be banned from ringside. They should expect to hear from Michael Hayes & Moose on the next TV.

NOTABLY MISSING:
-Ted McNaler
*After winning back Brittany DeVore and defeating Adam Revolver, Ted hasn't seen in-ring action the last 2 weeks. He needs to compete to get back on the Top 20.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
*Vic the Bruiser      *Rogue Navy      *The Assassin
*CJ Lane      *Raul LaMotta

  1. Thanks Brian. Great as always.
One change. Sorry I have to disagree with you. Taeler at #9. Like I mentioned last week. She is still the reigning OVW Women’s Champion, a belt that she clearly won at the time. That alone through default should maintain or increase her status in your ratings. Not to throw Royal under the bus, but what did OVW have him accomplish last week at the TV Taping other than focus his attention now at Bostic rather than Taeler. (Which I am glad to see that change).
    Two additional comments.
I was reading Randy Royal’s abbreviated bio on his Twitter account. He states that he is also a Shop Steward at UPS. If correct, I am assuming his represented by IBT. I have the upmost respect for him in that position. My first job was as a union represented engineer. Throughout my career, (even as a naval combat engineer in the first Gulf conflict) I have worked with the IBT, Iron Workers and other engineering unions. They have always had my back and I am still committed to having theirs! Hey Randy..thanks Brother.. Keep on fighting for the worker the way you fight in the ring at OVW!
I enjoy observing the use of the social network by the OVW wrestlers. The constant smack talk, bantering and dueling knowledge over who has the best come back adds to the ring energy. Their use of vocabulary and diction is at times a bit cantankerous, however to me, with this medium, it can be acceptable. Even Randy Royal has a veiled disclaimer on his Twitter page regarding its content.
I also applaud the OVW wrestlers for directing their postings only between themselves and not at the fans. To my knowledge, many of the OVW wrestlers are not addressing fans or supporters in any real negative manner. While a minority, some of the fans and supporters are excerisicing their First Amendment rights. (I am not certain if these are supporters or actual OVW plants). To some fans, the OVW wrestlers are seen as heroes, heroines and even demigods. So when an opponent posts a derogatory on line statement directed at their favorite OVW wrestler, some fans will automatically lash out a rebuttal. Yes, there are no consequences or stipulations that can negate this behavior. I have seen where an individual will vomit a statement filled with euphemisms and symbolic ironies on an opponent’s FB wall or Twitter account. Rather than confront the individual and turn their wall into a combat zone, the OVW wrestler takes the high road and kindly request the individual to refrain from such activity. Again I applaud the OVW Wrestlers for keeping it real! Interesting how wrestling, in particular OVW, has increased its footprint though social networking. And I say, keep it coming! And remember we are all having fun.
Can’t wait to see your results report for tomorrow.
